Diary of a Wimpy kid. Jeff Kinney's interview

Summary:

In the beginning Jeff Kinney wanted to work as a newspaper strip cartoonist, however he was not successful in getting his comic strip published. After, he started writing down his ideas in a journal. He found the format of text with pictures very interesting. Jeff used this format to become a cartoonist and create the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is about a middle-school boy named Greg Heffley. Jeff Kinney thinks these years are the most difficult time in everyone’s life, so it would be the perfect setting for his story. He also created the Do-it-Yourself books, which would give people the chance to write and draw their own stories in different activities. The books that influenced Jeff Kinney as a kid were the Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary books. Fantasy books such as Piers Anthony books and the Lord of the Rings trilogy also inspired him. Jeff Kinney only hopes that people really enjoy his books and think they are funny.
